Neighborhood Safety Alerts:

MARCH 2022 -   Several incidents of folks being hit at random by passing assailants. 

March 4, 2022 -  Approx. 1:30pm in front of La Cumbre & Muddy Waters:

  James the Advocate and Volunteer Coordinator of the local Safety Team was assaulted by a man who walked past on the sidewalk and hit James several times with a large vinyl bag style backpack for no reason whatsoever.  

  Man said, "I just felt like hitting you, so I did."   Man proceeded into pizza shop and got a pizza while police were being called.  Minutes later he walked out and down Valencia St. to the corner and walked to the right (east bound) towards BART Station on Mission St.  Around that same time we got word that a well known homeless man had just been hit in the face, likely by the same man.

Shown walking away towards corner.  Approx. 5"-9"/10" Tall, Medium Build, Black Male about 25-35 yrs. old, Dark Gray jacket over a Lime Green bright hoodie, dark pants, tennis shoes with a dark "vinyl bag" carried on back when not hitting people with it.

 

Shown here turning around to see who's coming behind carrying pizza and drink just purchased minutes after the assault.    He walks/moves kind of slow but don't be fooled.   He'll take a swing at anyone he comes upon. 

    Shown here from behind.   Police arrived and were advised which way he was walking.   The figured like me that it was likely best he be checked out at the hospital considering the assault resulted in no injuries to James (thank God! If there was a hammer or bottle in the 'vinyl bag" instead of what felt like clothes it could have been lights out for James). 

*  When walking down sidewalks "look ahead" to see if anyone is walking or acting strange before you get close to them.

*  We've seen several instances in the last year of folks assaulting others at random who attack without warning in addition to strong arm thieves all around the area near 16th and Valencia Streets.   

*  ALWAYS BE ALERT AND ON GUARD FOR SURPRISE ASSAULTS.

 

 

FEBRUARY 2022  -   Reports of pickpocket thieves in the area of 16th & Valencia Streets.

*  Do not walk on sidewalk or in crosswalks with your Distracted Device or Cell Phone.

*  Do not walk alone if possible.

*  Be Aware of Your Surroundings At All Times.

*  Keep your purse and backpacks closed and secure to prevent temptation.  

*  When using ATM's keep your money and card secure in separate pockets before leaving the ATM.
